I was wondering what happened after those "Change to DTH from cable" calls were made to public. So to answer that I went to the Government data set site and looked for relevant data. And I found a data set showing the total number of subscriber for various DTH providers in this country, for each year from 2011 to 2015. That led me to create this visualization (purely because I wanted to explore tableau). So have a look at it and you will know that DishTV was the biggest gainer. They nearly doubled their subscriber base. Good advertisement ? Cheaper ? Better customization ?Another interested fact is all DTH providers except Reliance have increased the number of subscriptions (not counting Sun Direct as they appeal to smaller audience). In-fact Reliance's base has gone down. Bad service ? Bad product ? Costly ?  Now another thing which crossed my mind and I think must've crossed a lot on others' minds as well was the question that 'How long do thes...
Do some good with what you learn and what you know they said. So I am trying to do just that. When the latest Panama Papers got released I was in the midst of learning about the vast field of data science. Then a thought crossed my mind "Why not do something with the data?'. And so began this small project. It seemed daunting task for my noob mind but then again whats the point of learning if you cannot experiment and go out of your comfort zone. So I set out to do 'something' with the data set at hand. First look at the data set and I was like, 'This is an experiment which is way out of my league'. But then again everything is to someone who is just starting out, so I said 'Onwards and to god knows where'.  So what did I do?  Sunday morning breakfast ->Download data set -> Load it up in R -> Check all the data and find relevant stuff -> Make a copy of the relevant data and ditch the rest -> Google about Geocoding -> R-Blogg...
Mi Band Tiny Useful Gadget or Just a Shiny Toy? Fitness trackers have been around a while now; may not be so in the Indian market but the market in general. Whenever you hear the word fitness tracker you instantly have a few phrases in your mind. Yes, right, they are how much I run or how much I walk etc. This nifty little band does that and more.  Friends, Ships and Life As Google would tell you ‘Friendship” is the state of being friends or a relationship between friends. Now that would lead would what is/are Friends. I can write the definition from a dictionary or Google and be done with it but that would not be the point now would it. I don’t know why but I feel lost while writing this. It feels like I don’t know where to start or whom to start with. Or its just the last few months that has rattled me and I have gone blank. I rather will start with the questions that are plaguing my mind. Who are your friends? What is friendship? What are they for? What do they want from you? What are you to them? Are you dispensable or indispensable to them? Why do they have double standards when it comes to friendship? Are there rules to everything in life? Does friendship also come with a conditions apply tag? Is there nothing in life that comes without conditions? Friends, some have many most have a few and very few have n...

‘Holy S***! What the hell am I doing here?’ These were the exact words of mine which I inadvertently blurted out, loud enough for a large section of people to turn their heads around. The trek to Parashar was supposed to be an easy one. Well, it was easy alright! Especially when we were all back safe and sound at our homes moaning and grunting when we had to twitch an inch. Goddamn it! These stairs to my room don’t seem to end.  Anyone heard of Murphy’s Law? Well, if you consider yourself a movie buff or have at least the slightest sense of Nolan’s movies, you might as well know about it. For all the others out there, it’s a simple fact.  "Anything that can go wrong, Will go wrong."  It can be loosely termed as Karma. Before I go any further, I would like to go in the reverse direction and back in time. (How I wish it would have been possible literally!) Being a simple and a very reserved person, I was never a very outgoing person. I would prefer to keep m...
Penning down this piece just to blurt out some things that are plaguing my mind since long. It’s a mixture of a lot of things, basis of which is related to our LFC and a subject close to every supporter’s heart (supposing everyone likes to learn about our vast history) and the other core is formed by what’s going on in the world since few years now. Yes you must’ve guessed about it, I’m talking of a day etched deep within the memories of every Merseysider. Some who were affected directly are still feeling the pain of an irrecoverable loss. And then there are others who can feel their agony and anguish at what happened on that wretched day of the 4 th month of 1989. A day which should be remembered by everyone alike, for every fan or supporter is family to us in the Red. I was born 3 months after the incident but I have tears whenever I read, hear or see videos about the day. Many say that people outside Merseyside cannot feel the pain, I agree with you but only partly. I say partl...
Note: 30 day fans read at your own risk Eve of the world cup. Unarguably the biggest spectacle on planet earth where billions and billions of people are stuck on their couch for a whole month while everything else (well most of it) is put on the side burner. The focus is solely on one thing and one thing only, game of two halves played by 11 people each in two teams who sole purpose is to just win. And by win I mean not just the trophy but also the hearts and praises of the paying audience. In this process of trying to achieve immortality, many lose their heart, some lose their senses, some let go of their judgement while a few have even lost their precious lives. But the chosen few who pass their way through every barrier, who wade their way through every defence, who light up the whole world with one wave of their lacy wands and those who stand their ground and say “Thou shall not pass”. One who play as one and move as one, those who stay through cracked walls or missed spells...
