Penning down this piece just to blurt out some things that are plaguing my mind since long. It’s a mixture of a lot of things, basis of which is related to our LFC and a subject close to every supporter’s heart (supposing everyone likes to learn about our vast history) and the other core is formed by what’s going on in the world since few years now.
Yes you must’ve guessed about it, I’m talking of a day etched deep within the memories of every Merseysider. Some who were affected directly are still feeling the pain of an irrecoverable loss. And then there are others who can feel their agony and anguish at what happened on that wretched day of the 4th month of 1989. A day which should be remembered by everyone alike, for every fan or supporter is family to us in the Red. I was born 3 months after the incident but I have tears whenever I read, hear or see videos about the day. Many say that people outside Merseyside cannot feel the pain, I agree with you but only partly. I say partly because yes we may not feel the amount of ache you have gone through all these years but we can think what it must be like (it will probably be far greater because you can never quantify the emotions a mother goes through after losing her child). We may have never fought for justice in person as you have but we are with you in spirit, always.
I don’t know why but the last few years’ incidents have made me think what is wrong with this world and being a Red my mind always races back to the day and try to co-relate the things even if they are nowhere related in any sense whatsoever. Even then there was one thing that came up which was a common theme, the authority. It is always the people in authority who are directly related to these disasters, conflicts and uprisings. Everything can be traced back to either a case of indecision or ill decision by authorities or their beliefs. The people up top have become greedy to the very bone or maybe even to the level of an atom. They behave as if they own everything and that theirs is the last and only say in matters. In our incident it was the ill decision by authorities which led to series of events eventually leading to the loss of so many lives within a short span of time. And what followed after the incident was even more horrific and disturbing. The powers that be laid the blame on the victims themselves and/or the people with them as if it was a game of passing the parcel. Then came another form of authority which helped them spread their cooked up theories. I cannot understand how and why do the people who sit on big chairs having big degrees not have the head to even think it through. It is unfathomable as to how they can take such decisions without even thinking of the consequences or even taking into account the scenario before their very own eyes. Surely they are robots in the form of humans. Despite everything happening in front their very own eyes they lie to everyone about it, did they think it was a movie playing in front of them. They are someone people look up to and expect them to be at-least truthful and just in their duties but it was nothing of the sort. The same theme can be observed in recent events in Israel and Gaza. Do the people want to wage a war? Do they want to kill each other? Do they want to kill children and women? It is seldom the common the man who wants to inflict such misery upon others. It is always just one man, the man on throne who has the sceptre in his hand. He is supposed to be the man representing us all, be looking after us and in that pretence he gives himself the power to do anything. I do not know what makes them abuse this power they have and how they make themselves believe that it is the right thing to do. Are they some sick twisted mind who believe in perpetrating terror? Are they simply incapable of taking good decisions? Or simply put are they dimwits? Decisions are something which are in one’s own hands and can be thought upon before delivering. Sometimes one bad decision leads to the other or as Murphy’s Law says “If multiple things can go wrong, they will in the way that will cause the most damage.
It was exactly what happened at Hillsborough that day, one poorly thought out decision cost so much to so many people.

In today’s context the people at the top have become greedy or driven by anger which is what’s clouding their judgement. Who in their right frame of mind proposes a bedroom tax? Who in their senses attacks a civilian aircraft? Who keeps mum after a nation’s uproar over injustice? Who gets so blinded by power that he wants to keep it for himself forever? Who incites hoards of people to turn on their fellow countrymen? Why do people have to cry and beg for their own rights to these men?
Surely these people cannot be humans, they have to be from another planet where all this is considered sane. Or must be robots looking like humans developed by some superpower to spread chaos among us. If they are supposedly humans then the question arises WHO ARE WE?
